Batteries (household)

Household batteries are hazardous and must not be placed in any household bin. They can cause fires and leak toxic chemicals.

Many supermarkets and stores have collection points with special bins for disposing of batteries.

There are also more collection points listed on B-Cycle.

Toys (plastic, no batteries)

To donate, give away or sell items use your nearest Op Shop, Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree.

If toys and other baby items are in good condition, they can be donated to St Kilda Mums.

If damaged, place in your recycling bin (yellow lid).

Smoke detectors and alarms

Remove batteries and place into your landfill bin (red lid).

Car or auto parts, including engine blocks or other items that are made from metal, can be taken to the following transfer stations:
