The container deposit scheme is a State Government initiative. More information, including refund points and eligible items, can be found on their website.  

The container deposit scheme rewards Victorians with a 10-cent refund for every eligible can, carton and bottle they return - resulting in less waste and better recycling.

Accepted items include:

  • Non-concentrated fruit or vegetable juice cartons
  • Flavoured milk cartons
  • Beer bottles and cans
  • Soft drink bottles and cans
  • Mixed spirits bottles and cans

Unaccepted include:

  • Glass wine bottles
  • Glass spirit bottles
  • Juice bottles 1 litre and over
  • Cordial bottles
  • Milk (other than flavoured milk) cartons
  • Concentrated fruit or vegetable juice cartons
  • Health tonics
