Longbeach trail improvements

  • Project typeTrail resurfacing
  • Project scheduleOpen

Council is continuing to invest significantly in Kingston’s roads, footpath and drainage network to support the current and future needs of our community.

As part of this investment, improvements on the section of the Longbeach Trail between Thames Promenade and Mordialloc Creek Pedestrian Footbridge are underway.

Council is currently undertaking significant maintenance works to improve safety and usability for pedestrians and cyclists.

Works will include:

  • Resurfacing of the granitic sand path to improve the quality of the surface by removing bumps and puddles
  • Where feasible, widening the narrower sections to provide a more consistent path width
  • Installing guide posts and bicycle safe fencing.
  • Tree pruning and vegetation management to improve sight distances and trail safety
  • New retaining walls
  • Safety improvements at the Thames Promenade intersection
  • Drainage improvements

The construction works will involve the use of machinery. Some sections of the trail will be restricted for the safety of the community during works. We apologise for any inconvenience and will minimise disruption wherever possible. Please keep an eye out for any signage advising of detours.

Work to deliver Stages One to Three is now complete.

Funding for this project has been provided via a Federal Government grant under the ‘Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program’.
