Amendment C148 - Mentone Hotel

Background

The Amendment affects land at 95-97 Beach Road, Mentone and proposes to amend the schedules to clauses 52.03 and 81.01 of the Kingston Planning Scheme to insert an Incorporated Document titled “Mentone Hotel Redevelopment – 95-97 Beach Road, Mentone, May 2016”. 

Update

 At its Ordinary Council Meeting of 27 March 2017, Council resolved the following:

That Council:

1. Abandons Planning Scheme Amendment C148

2. In accordance with Section 28 of the Planning and Environment Act tells the Minister in writing of its decision to abandon Planning Scheme Amendment C148

3. Informs the proponent of the resolution to abandon Planning Scheme Amendment C148

4. Encourages the proponent to consider an alternative proposal that:
a) is compliant with the Design and Development Overlay two-storey limit,
b) protects and undertakes to restore the heritage-listed Mentone Hotel building;
c) maintains the traditional use of the building as a hotel, or
d) provides adequate space for a café/restaurant/bar to provide for continued community use in accordance with the tradition of the Edgy.

Council has advised the Minister for Planning, the Hon Richard Wynne MP, the proponent, and all submitters to the proposed Planning Scheme Amendment of this resolution.
