The Facts: Mentone is named after a seaside resort in the south of France.

Mentone - Moorabbin Airport is bounded by Latrobe Street, Oak Avenue, Voltri Street, Grange Road and Centre Dandenong Road in the north, Boundary Road in the east, Lower Dandenong Road, Olive Grove, Nepean Highway, Warrigal Road and Port Phillip Bay in the south, and Charman Road in the west.

Settlement of the area dates from the mid 1800s, with land used mainly for market gardens and farming.

Mentone is located within the two metropolitan state electoral districts of Mordialloc and Sandringham. The state electoral districts for Moorabbin Airport are Clarinda and Mordialloc.  Mentone is located within the federal electoral divisions of  Isaacs and Hotham whilst Moorabbin Airport is within the Hotham Division.

People: Mentone - Moorabbin Airports’ population is 12,967 people.

The population is forecast to increase by 38.2%  to 17,926 people in 2036 . The total population in Kingston is forecast to increase by 22.3% (from 151,389 to 185,214) by 2036.

Moorabbin Airport opened in 1949 and is the second busiest airport in Australia by aircraft movements with over 250,000 flights per year. About 3,300 people are employed at the Airport, which is 5% of the City of Kingston Workforce.
