This project will reduce regular flooding that occurs along Embankment Grove and the surrounding streets in the northern part of Chelsea and includes:

  • Previously purchasing a vacant block of land at 149 Thames Promenade to enable drainage improvements.
  • Stage 1 - The construction of stormwater pumping station, with a bored pipe connecting to the Mulkarra Drive intersection, that is due to commence in March 2022.
  • Stage 2 - The construction of large pipes & road improvement works along Mulkarra Drive and Embankment Grove (up to Baxter Avenue) are scheduled to follow in 2023.
  • Stage 3 - Further plans to prioritise drainage improvements along other streets in this area, including pipes along sections of Embankment Grove and Cross Road.
