Community Satisfaction Survey
Each year, we participate in a Community Satisfaction Survey to assess our performance across a range of measures and to seek ways to improve and provide more effective service delivery. Our results are compared to the rest of the state as well as selected Councils in the Melbourne metro area.

Kingston City Council’s latest Annual Community Satisfaction Survey shows strong community support across most areas. Overall satisfaction with Council’s performance reached its highest level to date.
Customer service and satisfaction with services and facilities were also rated very positively, with standout results in areas like waste collection, libraries, aquatic centres, and arts programs. Governance and leadership were well regarded, especially in areas of community consultation, communication, and environmental responsibility.
The survey found that residents feel safe in Kingston, especially during the day, with safety ratings higher than the metropolitan average. The sense of community was also strong, with high agreement across all six statements, including feeling part of the community and being able to rely on neighbours.
These results suggest Kingston is seen as inclusive, child-friendly, and welcoming to diverse cultures, reinforcing the positive perception of Council’s role in fostering community wellbeing.
While most feedback was positive, some areas for improvement were identified. Road maintenance, traffic management, and parking were the most commonly raised concerns, with satisfaction in these areas slightly below the Kingston average for services and facilities.
However, even these issues were not dominant, and only a small proportion of respondents expressed dissatisfaction overall. The survey’s robust methodology and high response rate add confidence to the findings, which overall reflect a well-performing Council with strong community engagement.
