The Mordi Aquatic Centre is a great new community facility taking shape, while creating opportunities for local businesses. Around a third of the tradespeople on site are from south-east Melbourne, providing a welcome boost to local jobs and our local economy. And with a new café opportunity soon to open for expressions of interest, there’ll be even more ways for local businesses to be involved.

Works progressing well

Work is well underway on the new Mordi Aquatic Centre. The site compound has been established and approximately 20,000 tonnes of soil has been excavated, sifted, stabilised and re-used on site to form the platform for upcoming piling and building construction.

Upcoming demolition works at the former Don Tatnell Leisure Centre

In October, the old building will be demolished and returned to open space for the community. We’re also working with the Tatnell family to honour the legacy of Don Tatnell, through a memorial at Walter Galt Reserve.
