Cardboard egg cartons can be placed into your recycling bin (yellow lid).

Please dispose of these items in your landfill bin (red lid).

The combined paper and plastic material makes this a tricky item to separate and cannot be processed at the Materials Recovery Facility.

Many hazardous chemicals are accepted at a Detox your Home event. Check their website for accepted items.

A hazardous chemical is any chemical that can present a physical hazard including fires explosions and corrosions. They can also be health hazards and it is important to dispose of them correctly and responsibly.

Put plastic strapping in your landfill bin (red lid).

Waste Education tip: Strapping often gets tangled in machinery at recycling centres. This includes pallet strapping, nylon strapping, polypropylene strapping, and any heavy duty package strapping. To avoid this, please put all strapping in the landfill bin.

You can dispose of hot water systems by booking a hard waste collection.

Folders usually have a combination of plastic and cardboard. Place these in your landfill bin (red lid).

If in good condition, consider donating at your local Op Shop

Any folder that is made only of cardboard or paper can be disposed of in the recycling bin (yellow lid). An example of this would be a plain paper manilla folder.

Place any disposable paper product such as napkins, paper towel and tissues in your landfill bin (red lid).

Waste Education tip: Disposable paper items are often used for hygienic purposes and contaminate the recycling stream.
Recycling centres cannot distinguish between items used for different purposes so all disposable paper items should go in your
landfill bin (red lid).

Check with your local charity shop to see if they are accepting donations of clean, good quality blankets, doonas and sheets.

Blankets and doonas can be donated to local animal shelters, call ahead to check if they want your items.
