Protection works notice: Request for adjoining owner details

If you are planning to build or renovate, and your project is likely to impact nearby properties, you may need to contact adjoining property owners to issue a protection works notice.

An owner, who is required to serve a notice of proposed building work on the owner of an adjoining property, must take reasonable steps to find the name and address of the owner of the adjoining property for the purpose of serving that notice.

If you are unable to determine the contact details of adjoining owners, then you can request this information from Council.

For building-related matters where neighbouring owner details are required, your application must include:

  • Form 6: Determination that protection work is required. This is issued by the relevant building surveyor.
  • A completed Form 1 (building permit application form), as submitted to your relevant building surveyor.
  • Please note a fee is payable at the time of lodgement. See the Building Fee Schedule(PDF, 165KB) for details.
