Step 1.Apply online

To apply for a new permit, or renew an existing permit, start your application online at Accessible Parking.

If you don't have access to a mobile phone or the internet, please contact our customer service centre on 1300 653 356 to discuss other options for completing the form. You can also get help from a friend, family member, or GP.

Step 2.SMS confirmation

You'll receive an application reference number via SMS

Step 3.Visit your care provider

Take your reference number to your GP or occupational therapist.

They will complete your application and send it to us.

Step 4.Your application will be assessed

The State Government will assess your application (City of Kingston is not responsible for assessing or approving accessible parking permits).

Step 5.Receive your permit

If your application is successful, you'll receive your permit in the mail.

What should I do if I lose my permit?

  1. Complete a statutory declaration to formally declare the permit is missing.
  2. Start your replacement application online at accessible parking You’ll receive a replacement application reference number via text message (SMS) & email.
  3. If your application is successful, you can pick up the permit from our office at 1230 Nepean Hwy, Cheltenham, 3192. Bring your statutory declaration with you when you collect the permit.

How long does it take to receive a permit after applying?

Once approved, permits typically arrive by mail within 7 to 10 business days.

Can I use my permit to park in restricted locations or for free in areas with parking fees?

No, disability parking permits do not allow parking in restricted locations or for free where parking fees apply.

Can I use my Victorian permit in other states or territories?

It depends on the permit type and location. Please check the relevant State and Territory Road transport authority websites when planning your interstate travel.

Can my partner and I have a permit for each car?

No, permits are assigned to individuals rather than vehicles to prevent misuse.

Can I dispute the outcome of my permit application?

If you disagree with the eligibility assessment conducted by a medical practitioner (doctor or occupational therapist) you can seek a second opinion from a different medical practitioner and complete a new application.
