Kingston residents are invited to roll up their sleeves and get planting, with our popular autumn native plant giveaway returning this May.

Across four events, locals can collect up to five free native tube stock plants per household, helping to create greener gardens and a healthier urban environment.

Mayor Cr Georgina Oxley said the initiative plays an important role in strengthening Kingston’s natural landscape.

“Boosting our tree canopy and increasing biodiversity across Kingston is a key priority for Council,” Cr Oxley said.

“These plant giveaways are a simple but powerful way our community can be part of that effort, whether it’s adding shade, supporting local wildlife, or simply creating a more inviting outdoor space at home.

“We know our community values green spaces, and this is a great opportunity to take that one step further in your own backyard, without having to dip into your pocket.”

The program complements Council’s broader work to enhance Kingston’s urban forest, alongside large-scale planting, community partnerships, and education initiatives.

No bookings are required, residents can simply attend one of the sessions below and bring proof of address (such as a driver’s licence, rates notice or utility bill).

Around 1,000 plants will be available at each event, so get in early to avoid missing out.
