December 3 is International Day of People with Disability.

Across November and December, we’re celebrating our inclusive community with a series of fun, free activities.

Events include free access to Waves Leisure Centre for people of a disability and their carers, SaintsPlay kids footy sessions, all abilities Nippers lifesaving club program and much more.

Accessible Walk and parkrun

parkrun is positive, welcoming and inclusive. There is no time limit and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along. You can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate on a 5km course. Accessibility is a priority at parkrun.

Auslan Storytime

Come and experience a visual language and join in for some stories and songs!

Basketball

McKinnon Basketball Association is welcoming participants of All Ages and Abilities to excel, learn, interact and enjoy basketball. Give it a try and become part of the Cougar family.

Beach Access

Every weekend from November to April (weather permitting), there will be accessible beach matting and/or beach wheelchairs available for use at Life Saving Clubs. Please visit the club's website for more details.

Discover Sailing

Experience sailing with friendly, skilled instructors in club training boats. Open to everyone - families, friends, partners, colleagues and people of all abilities. Enjoy a fun day on the bay, sailing gear and life jackets provided.

Fishing Clinic by FishAbility

Gymnastics

Unleash your inner gymnast. Come together for an all-abilities session where school-aged children with disability can try gymnastics equipment. Work at your own pace with dedicated coaches offering personalised support. Discover what you can do.

Riding for the Disabled

Riding for the Disabled provides opportunities for anyone with disability to enjoy safe, therapeutic, horse-related activities. Play games, try on a helmet and meet some of our quiet, relaxed ponies.

SaintsPlay

Starfish Nippers

Starfish Nippers is a modified Nippers program for all abilities from ages 5 to adult with 1:1 supervision. Inclusive fun, skills and sport on the beach!

SWEAT Aqua Class

SWEAT Aqua is a pool program designed for individuals with Multiple Sclerosis, Acquired Brain Injury, MND, or similar conditions. The class builds confidence, strength, mobility and coordination in a supportive social environment. Participants can work at their own pace and carers are welcome.

Unlimited Free Gym and Swim

Kingston residents with disability (and their carer) are invited to use the pool and gym for free during the Access Kingston Week.

Writeability

Kingston, Bayside, and Stonnington Councils are teaming up with Writers Victoria to bring you Writeability - a workshop series that celebrates the voices of people and writers with disability. Led by Melbourne-based writer, editor, and poet Ruby Hillsmith, the program is designed to help remove barriers and amplify disabled voices in writing and publishing. Build your skills, share your stories and connect with a supportive community of creatives.

If you identify as a person with disability or experience barriers as a result of disability, Writeability is for you.
