Caravans and recreational vehicles
The City of Kingston welcomes recreational vehicles, including boats, caravans and trailers.
To ensure Council roads remain accessible, special parking guidelines have been developed for these vehicles.
Boats, caravans, trailers and other recreational vehicles must have a permit to be parked on any road or Council land for more than 14 days.
View Clause 63 of the Community Local Law for more information.
When is a permit required
You need a permit if your vehicle will be parked in the same spot for more than 14 days without moving.
You can only apply for this permit once every 6 months.
Eligibility
We will only issue a permit if:
- The vehicle is registered
- The vehicle under 7.5 metres in length
- The storage is temporary (not permanent)
- The street has no parking restrictions, flexible or otherwise.
How we will assess applications
When deciding whether to issue a permit, we will consider:
- What exceptional circumstances apply
- The impacts on amenity, safety and parking in the area
- The proximity to adjoining properties
- The likely effect on adjoining owners or occupiers
- The duration of time proposed
- Any other matter we reasonably believe is relevant to the application.
