The Roy Dore Reserve is undergoing upgrading as part of a $9 million redevelopment to become the new Carrum Sports Precinct which will be home to a host of sporting and community groups in new and upgraded facilities.

Kingston Council, the Victorian Government, AFL Victoria and local sporting clubs are partnering together on the impressive project which will feature a new main pavilion, tennis pavilion and courts, sports lighting upgrades, landscaping and more.

The three stage project commenced in 2019 and is due for completion in 2023.

Project timeline:

Stage 1 (late 2019-early 2021)

  • New two-storey sports pavilion with female friendly change facilities and disability access
  • Cricket net upgrades
  • New sports lighting for Oval One

Stage 2 (2021-2022)

  • Upgrade four tennis courts to sand-filled artificial grass, and two courts to acrylic hard court
  • Upgrade existing Oval 2 sports lighting.

Stage 3 (2022-2023)

  • New tennis pavilion
  • Upgrade scoreboards for Ovals 1 & 2
  • New fence for Oval 1.

Designs for the new sporting precinct have been prepared in partnership with, and approved by, the many community groups using the centre including Carrum Patterson Lakes Sports Club, Carrum Cowboys Football Club, Radio Carrum, Carrum Cricket Club, Carrum Patterson Lakes Junior Football Club, Carrum Patterson Lakes Football Netball Club, Long Beach Tennis Club, Melbourne Thunder Masters Touch Rugby Club.

The new sports facilities will compliment the existing pirate themed adventure playground, with large wooden ship and various play activities, outdoor fitness equipment, BBQ, shelters, picnic tables and seating for community use. 

An off leash dog area stretches behind the oval to the edge of the Long Beach Tennis Club.
