Edithvale Reserve

Edithvale Rec Reserve.jpg

The Edithvale Reserve is a multi purpose sports facility and recreation reserve, home to soccer, baseball, cycling and little athletics clubs.

Sporting facilities include a soccer pitch, baseball diamond, velodrome, and grass athletics track, with a recently built pavilion, and expanded playground area.

Recent improvements have been part of a long term development plan for the area completed by Council with the consultation of local residents, clubs, and sporting federations to ensure the future community needs, and standard of facilities are being met now and into the future.

The state-of-the-art HD Bert Thomas Pavilion was opened in February 2014, providing brand new accessible, all gender change rooms with ducted heating and cooling, a medical room, new toilets and showers, bar, social and function rooms and a viewing balcony accompanied by landscaping and lighting improvements.

Play facilities were enhanced with a new modern playground built, with a variety of climbing structures, connected ramps, nets and bridges, slides, swings and separate play equipment suitable for all ages.

A new shelter, with BBQs, picnic tables, drinking fountain and additional seating has been provided, with improvements to vehicle movement and car parking.

An innovative water reuse project, which won the 2018 Award of Excellence from the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia, provides an 800 square meter bio-retention system, and water tanks capable of storing up to 1.8 million litres of cleaned and filtered water.

This harvested and treated water is expected to offset around 8.2 million litres of potable drinking water per year, which is the equivalent to around 50 households
