Kingston Council works closely with Victoria Police to help keep our neighbourhoods, shopping centres and public spaces safe.
In recent years, growing rates of domestic violence reporting have increased demand for frontline policing and specialist support services, highlighting the need for more trained officers on the ground.
At the same time, rising incidents of violence, anti-social behaviour and theft in shopping centres, transport hubs and other public places continue to present significant challenges for our community.
Council is committed to improving community safety through initiatives such as upgraded lighting, safer public space design and ongoing collaboration with Victoria Police. However, local government alone cannot address these issues.
To ensure residents, businesses and visitors feel safe in their community, Kingston is calling for increased police resourcing and a stronger visible police presence across our suburbs and activity centres.
