We’re delivering three major improvement projects at G.R. Bricker Reserve in Moorabbin. Together, they’ll enhance drainage, sustainability, and recreation facilities for the local community.

Stormwater harvesting (Project 1)

This $3.8 million project will capture stormwater from Melbourne Water’s main drain, filter and treat it through a a high-efficiency biofiltration system, and store the clean water in underground tanks. The harvested water will be reused to irrigate the oval and athletics field, helping save water and prepare for dry conditions.

Timeline: May to November 2026

Some temporary access impacts are expected, but we’ll work closely with local clubs and the community to minimise disruption.

This work is part of Council’s Integrated Water Strategy, which aims to increase the use of harvested stormwater, reduce reliance on drinking water, and protect local waterways.

Oval turf and irrigation upgrade (Project 2)

Alongside the stormwater harvesting system, we’ll be replacing the oval’s turf and installing a new irrigation system.

The irrigation and turf upgrade works will run in parallel and are scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.

Timeline: October to December 2026

Athletics track lighting improvements (Project 3)

A future project is being planned to improve lighting around the athletics track to support safer and more accessible evening use.

Timeline: To be confirmed and subject to funding
