A grove of native trees in Caruana Bushland Reserve.

We’re improving access and visitor experience at Caruana Woodland Reserve, by upgrading existing pathways and constructing a new elevated boardwalk.

The elevated boardwalk has been carefully designed for this ecologically sensitive area, and to minimise vegetation removal. All trees will be retained, with vegetation and tree-protection measures in place throughout construction.

All significant trees will be retained, with tree protection measures in place throughout the works.

The works include:

  • removal of existing concrete path
  • construction of an elevated section of boardwalk
  • installation of granitic sand paths at either end of the boardwalk
  • minor vegetation removal and tree lopping to allow the boardwalk construction
  • new native planting, carried out by Council following the works.

Works are planned for commencement in the first half of 2026 and will take around 6-8 weeks to complete.

A specialised construction methodology will be used to minimise environmental disturbance. Some areas and pathways may be temporarily restricted during the works. We will provide clear signage for alternative routes.

The project will provide a more sustainable and enjoyable way for the community to experience the reserve for years to come.
