Kingston Charitable Fund

The Kingston Charitable Fund aims to make the community stronger and more connected by supporting charitable organisations.

The Fund was established in February 2007 as an initiative of Council in partnership with Greater Melbourne Foundation (formerly Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation).

Now more than ever, our local charities need funding. With your help, we can continue to provide grants for programs that are helping to make a difference in Kingston.

2025 grants program

Applicants for the 2025 round were notified in May 2025, after the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Fund Board met to approve recommendations in April 2025.

Who is eligible?

  • Charities who benefit Kingston residents, and
  • Have Deductible Gift Recipient Item 1 status (DGR) 
  • Have Tax Concession Charity status (TCC) 

Who awards the grants?

The Grants Assessment Panel panel consists of: 
  • the Mayor 
  • one other Councillor 
  • the Chief Executive Officer or their representative 
  • two council appointed community members 
  • a Greater Melbourne Foundation representative (if available)

The recommendations are presented to Greater Melbourne Foundation's Board (Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation) for noting and approval of any recommendations over $15,000.

  • Brainwave Australia Ltd - $6,000 - Brainwave Bikes monthly bicycle maintenance and safety training program
  • Cancer Patients Foundation - $5,000 - Look good feel better
  • Chelsea Community Support Service Inc - $11,500 - Christmas support program 
  • Community First Responders Foundation Inc - $9,790 - Kingston Shock StationTM and Shock SaverTM rollout program
  • Melbourne Anglican Benevolent Society - $6,000 - Pantry 5000 Christmas hamper and food
  • Monash Health - $9,421 - Boosting Opportunities for Outdoor recreation, Socialisation Therapy (BOOST) in people with neurological disabilities
  • Special Olympics Melbourne Southern Club - $5,059 - Basketball uniforms for Special Olympics Melbourne Southern Club athletes
  • Springvale Benevolent Society - $2,500 - Emergency relief
  • St Vincent de Paul Society Clayton South - $8,000 - Empowering the disadvantaged on the community, supporting families in need
