Keeping kids safe – parent program

Next date: Tuesday, 26 May 2026 | 06:00 PM to 08:30 PM

The City of Kingston is committed to preventing family violence through the Healthy & Connected objective of the Council and Wellbeing Plan.

Keeping Kids Safe is a free program for parents and carers of young people aged 13–15 years. It supports caregivers to build confidence and skills to talk openly with their children about consent, healthy relationships and respectful behaviour, helping to prevent sexual harm and violence.

Program overview

Keeping Kids Safe is a four-week program designed for parents and carers of students in Years 6 to 9 who live in the City of Kingston. Each session builds on the previous one, so participants are encouraged to attend all four sessions to get the most out of the experience.

The program complements what young people are learning at school through the Respectful Relationships curriculum, helping to create consistent and supportive messages across home, school and the community.

Previous participants have reported stronger relationships with their children and greater confidence in having important conversations.
