We’re upgrading the much-loved Cavanagh Street shops to create a more welcoming, vibrant and accessible precinct that enhances the local shopping experience and supports our traders. The improvements include widening of the footpath in front of 85-99 Cavanagh Street to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility. To ensure the design reflects community needs, the scope of work includes:

  • New street furniture including seating, larger bins and bicycle hoops along the strip
  • A new paved area with landscaping, garden beds and picnic table near Frank’s Cafe
  • A new drinker / water dispenser
  • A new accessible parking bay in front of 85 Cavanagh Street
  • New trees and landscaping works to make the strip more vibrant and inviting
  • Relocation of the Telstra Phone Booth for better use of the space

Community and trader input has played a key role in shaping the design.

Minimising disruption

We recognise how important small businesses are to our community and are committed to keeping disruptions to a minimum during construction.

  • Access to businesses will remain open as much as possible using ramps
  • Temporary footpath closures may occur during activities such as concrete pours
  • Pedestrian detours and car park closures may be required at certain times
  • Clear signage will be provided throughout the works

Closer to the time of construction additional information will be provided, with details on who to contact during construction.

We look forward to delivering these improvements for the community.
