Have your say on the future of Kingston’s community facilities

The City of Kingston is inviting the community to help shape the future of its network of community buildings, with the draft Community Infrastructure Framework 2026-2036 now open for public consultation.
The draft framework outlines a long-term plan for how Council will manage, improve and invest in community facilities over the next decade, ensuring they continue to meet the needs of Kingston’s growing and changing community.
Mayor Georgina Oxley said Kingston’s community facilities played an important role in bringing people together and supporting a wide range of local services and activities.
“Kingston is home to 167 community buildings that support everything from early childhood services and youth programs to arts, learning and social connection,” Cr Oxley said.
“These spaces play an incredibly important role in bringing our community together and helping people stay active, connected and engaged.”
The draft framework sets out a clear, evidence-based approach to how Council will plan, deliver and manage community infrastructure in the years ahead.
“With financial pressures affecting councils right across the state, it’s more important than ever that we make responsible decisions about how we use and maintain our community facilities,” Cr Oxley said.
“This framework focuses on making the most of the buildings we already have, ensuring they are flexible, well-used and able to support a wide range of services and community activities.”
The draft Community Infrastructure Framework has been developed following extensive research and analysis, including a review of community needs across 21 service areas and 10 planning precincts across Kingston.
Cr Oxley encouraged residents, community groups and facility users to take the opportunity to review the draft document and provide their feedback.
“Community feedback is an important part of this process and will help ensure our future planning reflects the needs and priorities of the people who live, work and spend time in Kingston,” she said.
