Ausecuma Beats

As the weather gets warmer, Kingston Arts welcomes back Live at City Hall: Sunday Sounds, a series of free, family-friendly events in partnership with PBS 106.7FM.

Ausecuma Beats are more than just a band, they are a philosophy. Led by their fearless bandleader and master djembe player, Boubacar Gaye, the nine-strong ensemble demonstrate what can happen when a group of artists come together based on an idea - in this case, the idea of transplanting cultural heritage into a contemporary city.

Ausecuma Beats was imagined to celebrate diversity in music, and express rhythm as the core of their shared musicality. Hailing from Australia, Senegal, Cuba and Mali, they promote unity recognised through the power in diversity with a shared vision.

Ausecuma Beats comprises four percussionists enhanced by melodic overtones from guitar, kora and sax, offering a unique and exciting musical experience.

With free kids' activities and a relaxed atmosphere, Sunday Sounds is the perfect opportunity to kick back, relax and soak in the tunes in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Kingston City Hall is fully licenced; chips and chocolate bars will also be available. The City Hall Bar will be open from 1pm.

BYO platters. Please note we do not have any reheating facilities, so cold food is recommended.
