In celebration of International Compost Awareness Week, Kingston residents are invited to go behind the scenes with a free tour of our food and garden waste processing facility. Discover how household food scraps and garden waste are transformed into nutrient-rich compost, helping reduce landfill and support more sustainable waste practices. The tour will also include practical tips on using your food and garden waste bin and reducing contamination. Tour details: Meeting point: Westall Community Hub 9:20am – Meet at Westall Community Hub 9:30am – Depart by bus to the facility in Dandenong 12:10pm (approx.) – Finish up at Westall Community Hub Please note: a bus will transport attendees to and from the facility. Participants must be able to walk approximately 800 metres at a slow pace. Long pants and enclosed footwear (preferably old shoes) are required. Following the tour, there will be a short recap session at Westall Community Hub, including a Q&A on waste, landfill and recycling. The tour is free, but places are limited.
