Storytimes

Kingston Libraries offers a range of Storytime sessions to suit the various ages and needs of our younger community members and their families.

While Kingston library branches are temporarily closed, we're still offering a range of Storytimes online with your favourite librarians via live stream and virtual recordings!

Storytime Live Stream

Storytime Live Stream sessions will be held Monday to Friday*. Storytime is a free service suitable for pre-school children aged 0-5 and can be accessed online at the days and times listed below.

Sessions include stories, rhymes and songs and are usually structured around a theme (like pets or dinosaurs).

*Excluding public holidays.

Virtual Storytimes

Kingston Libraries Virtual Storytimes are video recordings featuring your favourite librarians reading great picture book titles that you can enjoy with your little ones whenever you like, no matter where you are!


I Want My Hat Back

National Simultaneous Storytime

Join us online at 11am on Wednesday 27 May with our special guest storyteller, Kingston Mayor Cr Georgina Oxley, as we take part in a nationwide reading of Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas by Lucinda Gifford for National Simultaneous Storytime!

Tiny Tots Rhyme Time

Encourage a love of stories and reading with our Tiny Tots program.

Enjoy an interactive 20 minute session full of songs, rhymes, books, and finger play. Learn techniques to develop your child's early literacy skills and discover the perfect books to choose for baby. Enjoy the company of other babies and parents and get to see our new books for and about babies and toddlers before anyone else.

Tiny Tots Rhyme Time is suitable for children aged 0-24 months.

Auslan Storytime

Auslan Storytime is incorporated into the regular Friday Storytime sessions at Cheltenham Library on the second Friday of every month.

Come and experience a visual language and join in for some stories and songs!

Auslan (Australian sign language) is the sign language of the Australian Deaf community.

Saturday Storytimes

Saturday Storytimes alternate between Chelsea and Cheltenham Libraries on a fortnightly basis. Perfect for families with children aged 0 to 5 years.

All Saturday Storytimes start at 10:30am.

While Kingston Libraries in house library programs and events remain suspended until further notice, Saturday Storytimes will not be running. Please check out our Storytime Live Stream sessions Monday through Friday and Virtual Storytimes that are available to enjoy with your little ones whenever you like, no matter where you are!
