As part of our commitment to improving open spaces and sporting facilities in Kingston, we developed a Master Plan for Bonbeach Sports Reserve to help guide the long-term planning for the site.

Key improvements identified in the Master Plan include:

  • Drainage works(PDF, 546KB)
  • New cricket practice nets and multipurpose recreation space
  • Improvements to Oval 5 (east of the Reserve)
  • Planned consolidation of pavilion facilities to the east of the Reserve
  • Landscape improvements, including additional park seating, tree plantings and wayfinding
  • Expanded path and trail network and improved lighting
  • Formalised car parking.

Stage One of drainage works – the construction of a new pumping station in the car park - have now been completed. And Stage Two (which will see us construct an outfall drain on oval five) to connect it to the Melbourne Water drain, is on track to commence at the end of 2024.

Additionally, we've partnered with the Victorian Government to deliver the new cricket practice nets, with construction commencing in early 2023.

A timeframe for the remaining improvements is yet to be confirmed, and their implementation is subject to securing the necessary funding, particularly a contribution from the State Government.
