Love Local Kingston

As part of our ongoing effort to help the Kingston community through the COVID-19 pandemic, we launched the Love Local Kingston campaign – an initiative designed to support our community and promote our local businesses who make Kingston a wonderful place to shop, stay and love. We encouraged our local traders to stay safe and take it outdoors by introducing a series of temporary outdoor activations across Kingston including:

• Alfresco dining options in the form of fun footpath trading and inviting parklets
• The Highett Village Common and Owen Street Piazza - outdoor community spaces featuring seating, tables, greenery, and festoon lighting
• 100 temporary picnic tables scattered across our parks and reserves

The feedback we received about these activations was extremely positive and due to their success – the Highett Village Common and Owen Street Piazza are now here to stay!

While the 100 picnic tables have been removed, we look forward to permanently welcoming many of them back this spring.

These initiatives are made possible under the State Government’s COVIDSafe Outdoor Activation Fund.
