National Reconciliation Week

To commemorate the beginning of National Reconciliation Week and the launch of Councils first ever Reconciliation Action Plan, the City of Kingston is hosting a flag raising ceremony in partnership with the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation and the Derrimut Weelam Gathering Place.

The event will have a formal Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony conducted by a Traditional Owner followed by an address from Mayor Staikos and CEO of Reconciliation Victoria, Nicole Findlay. 

Join us at Derrimut Weelam Gathering Place on Monday 30 May at 10am.

Free coffee and morning tea provided. Registrations essential.

 

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) (27 May to 3 June) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

This year’s theme “Be Brave. Make Change” is a challenge to us all to Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for all.
