Community gardens

Community gardens are communal spaces where people can come together to grow food and learn about gardening.

Growing food locally in a community garden is a great way to:

  • keep active and spend time outdoors
  • make connections with others in your local community
  • learn more about gardening and growing food
  • access organic food and promote a healthy diet
  • reduce your impact on the environment.

Community gardens can consist of individual plots, shared plots, or a communal space where the food is grown for distribution to a charity.

To locate your nearest community garden in the City of Kingston, please see the list and interactive map of community gardens below.

The Community Garden Policy(PDF, 1MB) helps community groups to understand more about the responsibilities and requirements involved in setting up a community garden on Council owned or managed land.

Further information on garden related groups, events and activities within the City of Kingston can be found at My Community Life.
