Disposing of paint

Paint contains chemicals such as solvents and metals that can contaminate our groundwater and endanger human health. It is important that you do not put unwanted paint into your garbage or recycling bin. If you are unable to access a permanent drop-off sites you may like to try a paint hardener, which can be found at most hardware stores. Waste paint hardener turns unwanted water based paints and water based timber coatings into solid waste for easy and safe household disposal into the landfill bin.

For disposal of additional items see A to Z of waste disposal.
