E-Waste and Household Chemical Collections

E-waste (Electronic Waste)

Anything with a plug, cord or battery is defined as E-waste. The Victorian Government has banned E-waste from going to landfill.

Residents can dispose of E-waste through Councils free hard waste collection during September - October each year.
Additional hard waste collections can be booked for a small fee, click here for information on Councils hard waste collections. If your E-waste is still in good working order, drop it off at your nearest OpShop. Click here to find your closest Opshop

For further information on e-waste click here to be linked to Sustainability Victoria's E-Waste page.

Disposing of paint

Paint contains chemicals such as solvents and metals that can contaminate our groundwater and endanger human health. It is important that you do not put unwanted paint into your garbage or recycling bin.  If you are unable to access one of Sustainability Victoria’s permanent drop-off sites you may like to try a paint hardener, which can be found at most hardware stores. Waste paint hardener turns unwanted water based paints and water based timber coatings into solid waste for easy and safe household disposal into the landfill bin.

For disposal of additional items please refer to the A to Z of waste disposal page
