Council’s Positive Ageing initiatives provide opportunities for people over 55 to age positively in the City of Kingston and work to create an environment where older people feel valued, respected and acknowledged for the contributions they make to the community. All projects are driven by the needs and wants of the community and are linked to Council’s Positive Ageing Plan.

Positive Ageing Plan 2014 - 2019
The Kingston Positive Ageing Plan is a five year strategy through which Council aims to have policies, services, settings and structures that support the development of an age friendly community in Kingston. The plan is guided by the World Health Organisation’s Age Friendly Cities Framework and outlines priorities in the following areas:
- Outdoor Spaces and Buildings
- Social Participation
- Respect and Social Inclusion
- Civic Participation and Employment
- Communication and information
- Community and Health Services
Through the plan Council aims to capture the wisdom and experience of older people and facilitate opportunities for their ongoing involvement and contribution to the Kingston community.

Celebrating Kingston's Centenarians
Council hosted a ‘One Hundred Years of Memories Luncheon’ to celebrate the lives of our Kingston residents who have reached the milestone of 100 years. The event was held at the Southern Golf Club on Friday 3 November 2017, from 11.00am to 1.00pm. The Mayor opened the event and awarded the participants with a commemorative gift and certificate. The Centenarians and their guests expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Council for organising the event.
