Drainage Projects

Council is responsible for inspecting, maintaining and upgrading approximately 798km of stormwater drains and associated assets.  To view Council’s latest drainage projects click here.

AWARDS

The City of Kingston has received quite some awards in the field of Stormwater Quality over the past 10 years or so which include:

  • 2018 IPWEA – Winner of the State award for ‘Excellence in Environmental Sustainability' for 'The Edithvale Stormwater Solution’ involving major flood mitigation and storing 1.2 million litres of treated water for reuse.    More information on the Edithvale Reserve Integrated Water Treatment and reuse project can be found here.
  • 2018 Stormwater Victoria – Winner of the State award for ‘Excellence in Policy and Education’ for ‘The Kingston in-lieu Developer Contribution Scheme'.
  • 2014 National Stormwater Industry Association – Australian recognition for ‘Excellence in Strategic and Master Planning’ for developing a unique method to prioritise treatment & reuse projects.
  • 2013 Stormwater Victoria – Winner of the State award for ‘Excellence in Strategic and Master Planning’ for ‘The Kingston Master Plan – The Next Generation in Stormwater Strategies’.
  • 2013 IPWEA Victoria – Winner of the State award for ‘Excellence in Asset Management’ for ‘Turning a Water Strategy into a Practical Capital Works Program’.
  • 2012 Stormwater Association - Winner of the Australian award for ‘Excellence in Strategic and Master Planning’ for developing an 'Integrated Water Management Strategy'.
  • 2012 Stormwater Victoria – Winner of the State award for ‘Excellence in Asset Management’ for ‘Managing Stormwater in Industrial Areas - The Mordialloc Case Study’.
  • 2012 IPWEA Victoria – Winner of the State award for ‘Excellence in Asset Management’ for ‘Mordialloc Industrial Precinct - Managing Stormwater as an Asset’.
  • 2008 Stormwater Victoria – Recognition for ‘Excellence in Stormwater Management initiatives’’ for ‘Managing Sustainable Rain Gardens’.
