The City of Kingston are always looking for more wonderful volunteers to assist with providing services such as delivering meals to households , transport services and community events.
Volunteer services have commenced an exciting program, with eligible residents encouraged to continue maintaining their own garden with the assistance of a volunteer. With consumers and volunteers working side by side, the program endeavours to keep avid gardeners active and mobile, completing light gardening tasks such as weeding, watering, planting and picking fruit within the comfort of the backyard. This program recognises the importance of remaining socially connected, with volunteers and clients encouraged to have a chat and cuppa during the visit. A local walk may also be incorporated into the visits.
The Delivered Meals program is based at Bonbeach. Volunteers assist on weekday mornings to deliver meals to residents in the local area, with roles available as either a driver or passenger. There is relevant training available to support you with getting up and running as a volunteer and you may also be supported on the road by a buddy in the passenger seat.
The Volunteer Transport Service supports people aged over 65 and people with a disability to attend medical appointments, by providing a volunteer driver to accompany them to and from the appointment.
Community activities and day trips
We are also looking for people to head out alongside bus drivers and clients to lend a helping hand with social events such as lunches and day outings.
