How many plants can I collect?
You can collect up to five tube stock plants per household.
Why do I need to register and present the barcode when I collect the plants?
Registering ensures all plants are allocated and residents don't miss out. Presenting your barcode ensures there is only one collection per household. Once the barcode has been scanned and you have collected your plants, it will no longer be active or valid.
When and where do I collect my free plants from?
There are five dates you can chose from when you register. The first four dates - Saturday 27 March, Thursday 8 April, Friday 9 April and Saturday 10 April are for collections from Carrum Indigenous Nursery in Patterson Lakes. The fifth collection option is from Kingston Heath Reserve on Saturday 1 May from 9.00am - 1.00pm. See Collection Dates, Locations and Registration for further details and maps.
Can I buy other plants from the nursery when I collect my free plants?
No, you won't be able to buy other plants during the collection dates as there will be a high volume of people visiting the nursery on those dates. In order to safely and quickly distribute plants on collection days, the nursery will not be selling plants. Please be mindful that volunteer nursery staff will be doing their best to assist residents but if you do experience delays, we ask that you remain patient and respectful towards staff.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
When you register, you will receive a confirmation email with a PDF voucher, including a QR code. You can present the printed voucher or you can show the barcode on your phone at collection point.
Can I register more than once and for different dates?
No, you can only register once per household. A limit of five tube stock plants per household applies.
Can I collect on behalf of other people?
Yes you can. Just bring their printed voucher if you'd like to collect on behalf of someone else.
I am part of a community group. Can we collect plants for our group?
No, this plant giveaway is for residents only. You can contact council if you have any specific enquiries about plants for community groups.
I've registered to collect on a particular day but can no longer make it on that day. Can I use the voucher to collect on another day?
Yes, you can use your voucher to collect your plants on a different day if circumstances change and you are no longer able to collect on the date you registered for. We ask that you make every effort to collect on the date on your voucher. This will ensure easy traffic flow, staggered collections and enough resources to assist residents on the day. We will honour the voucher on a different day but please note, once the barcode has been scanned, the voucher will no longer be valid.
Will there be a choice of plants to collect?
We will have a mixture of trees, shrubs, grasses and groundcovers available at each collection day. As a guide, check out the downloadable plant list to see what will be available but please note, we have limited numbers and not all plants on the list may be available when you collect.
Can I bring my family and pets along?
For collections at Carrum Indigenous Nursery, we recommend that you limit the number of people coming to collect as this will assist with traffic flow and will assist with COVID-safe social distancing.
For collection at Kingston Heath Reserve on Saturday 1 May, it is more appropriate to bring family and pets as there is more space and you may want to make the most of your trip and visit the reserve or playground areas.
I don't have an email address and cannot register
