Project update January 2020
Following the announcement of a grant from the State Government, Council is working closely with the Aspendale Life Saving Club to progress plans for a redevelopment of the site.

Community consultation on the concept plans was undertaken in 2019. Please see below for the latest plans.

The proposal has received formal approval from the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) via the granting of consent pursuant to the Marine and Coastal Act 2018.

A planning permit is also required, in particular, planning permission in relation to the proposed ‘use’ of the facility and for the removal of some foreshore vegetation required to accommodate the development.

The planning application received a number of objections and an appeal was lodged with the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).

A hearing is due to take place over several days commencing 1 February 2021.

Council anticipates receiving a decision in March 2021 and will inform the community of the outcome of this process.
