Fantastic new facilities for Mentones Acacia Avenue Pre-school
26 February 2018
Works are set to begin on the new Acacia Avenue Pre-School after Kingston Council last night appointed a local Kingston builder to complete the exciting $2.189million community project.
Mayor Steve Staikos said the project was part of Council’s and the Victorian Government’s ongoing investment into quality early learning centres in the municipality over many years.
The joint project has been funded by Kingston Council with a $650,000 contribution from the Victorian Government.
“This is a great result for the local community and will deliver terrific facilities to give our children a great start in life,” Cr Staikos said.
Construction works will begin in coming months with the kindergarten to continue to operate from its existing building while the new facilities is built next door. Once it is completed the current building will be demolished and a new outdoor play space built in its place.
“This much loved community kindergarten has served local families over many years but the building is old and is unable to meet the needs of the growing community into the future,” Cr Staikos said.
“The new facility will provide fantastic new indoor and outdoor facilities and will ensure generations of local families have access to a top-quality kindergarten.
Clayton South’s Dura Constructions has been awarded the contract to complete the works.
“Council is proud to support local businesses and promote local job creation so it’s terrific to see a local construction company appointed to the project,” Cr Staikos said.
