Extra time granted for licence offer at Mordialloc Creek
30 March 2016
Kingston Council is hoping to finalise licences for use of the Pompei’s Landing area of Mordialloc Creek over the next week.
The Mordialloc Boating and Angling Club and Pompei’s Marine Pty Ltd were both offered licences for the area following a public Expression of Interest process held last year.
The Mordialloc Boating and Angling Club accepted its three-year licence in February however Pompei’s Marine Pty Ltd, after requesting further information in early February, did not respond by the 26 February deadline.
At last night’s public Council meeting, Kingston Council agreed to offer Pompei’s Marine Pty Ltd a further extension – until 5pm Friday 8 April – to accept the licence.
If Pompei’s Marine Pty Ltd chooses not to accept the licence in that time, Council has authorised the CEO to seek vacant possession of the land.
Mayor Tamsin Bearsley said a legal agreement was needed between Council and groups using public land.
“The Public Land Consultancy and the Crown have both confirmed Kingston Council is the responsible authority for the land known as Pompei’s Landing,” Cr Bearsley said. “We’re now hoping to move forward on this long-running issue and put in place licences that clearly set out a fair shared use of the area.”
