Pizza served with new books at Kingston Libraries

23 June 2017

Budding teenage bookworms can snack on pizza while helping choose new books for Kingston Libraries at a special Readz Teen Activity Club event in July.

The free bi-monthly club is a joint project between Kingston Libraries and Kingston Youth Services and aims to spark, or keep burning, a love of reading in teenagers.

The July 25 event is on 4pm at Cheltenham Library and will feature a pizza afternoon where young people can discover the latest new young adult releases and vote for which books Kingston Libraries should buy.

“Readz Teen Club is a great way to foster a love of reading in a fun environment,” Kingston Mayor David Eden said. “Come along for a fun, free night and enjoy a slice of pizza on us.”

Held every second month, the Readz Teen Club brings together 12–16 year-olds for an hour of activities and to share the latest news and views about books.

Upcoming events include: the ‘books and pizza’ night featuring new books provided by Readings Carlton,a drawing workshop, plus an end-of-year celebration.

Due to the overwhelming popularity of past events, bookings are essential and can be made online at kingston.vic.gov.au/library or phone 1300 135 668.
