Lens Mist 2017 photography competition opens

24 November 2016

Budding photographers are grabbing their cameras and heading for the beach for a chance to win a share of over $7000 prizemoney in the annual Lens Mist photography competition.

Now in its seventh year, Lens Mist helps celebrate Melbourne’s stunning beaches and foreshore environment along Port Phillip Bay.

“The City of Kingston’s innovative competition challenges artists to capture an image that evokes Port Phillip Bay while responding to the theme ‘our changing environment’, Kingston Mayor David Eden said.

“Kingston is proud to support local artists and the annual Lens Mist event is a fantastic opportunity for photographers to share their talent.”

Photographs from 20 finalists will be displayed at the Mordialloc Food, Wine and Music Festival in March with over 40,000 people expected to visit the popular event.

The winner of the Best Photograph Award, sponsored by DFO Moorabbin, will receive a $5000 prize. The City of Kingston also sponsors a $2000 People’s Choice Award, a $500 Junior Lens Mist prize and $250 Voter’s Award.

Entries for Lens Mist are now open and must be submitted by Wednesday 18 January 2017.
