Kingston community to help shape the city’s future

15 February 2021

Kingston Council is putting together a panel of community members to develop a new Community Vision and provide key advice on the roadmap for the future of the City.

Invitations are being sent to 11,000 randomly selected homes across Kingston to form the 40-person representative panel – so keep an eye on your mailbox to see if you’d like to take part.

The rest of the community can also help shape our future by sharing their views on what’s important to them and how we can make Kingston better.

The Your Kingston Your Future project will see Council work hand-in-hand with the community as key plans for our future years are set.

Kingston Mayor Steve Staikos said Council was keen to hear from as many people as possible and will then work closely with a community panel that demographically represents our diverse community.

“The Community Panel will be given the task of developing a new Community Vision for Kingston,” Cr Staikos said. “They will also be key advisors to Councillors on the new four-year Council Plan and other key strategies including Kingston’s Health & Wellbeing Plan, Asset Plan and Financial Plan,” Cr Staikos said.

“If you are passionate about Kingston’s future we’d love you to share your ideas via our online survey and also take part in the Community Panel if you receive an invitation.

“We need the community’s input to capture what is important to you so together we can make Kingston the best place to live, work and play now and into the future. The community will be invited to give feedback at many stages along the way and will really help drive our plans for the future.”

The community-wide online survey is open until Friday 12 March at

Invitations to take part in the Community Panel will be sent to the 11,000 randomly selected Kingston homes and businesses this month.

The wider community will also have further chances to give feedback throughout the project before the Community Vision, Council Plan and other key plans are finalised.
