Nominations open for Kingston’s Woman of the Year Award

Do you know a woman who has made a significant contribution to community, industry or society?

The City of Kingston is seeking nominations for the 2021 Kingston Woman of the Year Award. 

Kingston CEO Julie Reid said the annual Award, launched in 2019, is all about celebrating those women who are making a positive difference in our community.

“This will be our third Kingston Woman of the Year Award and each year we are overwhelmed with the quality of the nominees,” said Ms Reid. “These are women who make incredible contributions to their community every day, are passionate and extraordinarily devoted to what they do.”

2020 Kingston Woman of the Year winner June Rea said she felt honoured and grateful to be the recipient of this prestigious award.

“To have been chosen as the winner from such an outstanding field of nominees is very humbling,” said Ms Rea. “I strongly encourage you to consider nominating deserving women of Kingston who are making great contributions across many varied fields within their community.”

Nominations are now open and close on Monday 30 November 2020.

The winner of the 2021 Kingston Woman of the Year will be announced at Kingston’s International Women’s Day event on Friday 5 March 2021.

Nominees should be leaders in their field, who inspire others and make a difference to our community through their exceptional professional or personal achievements.

Nominations are open in the following categories:

  • Courageous Commitment: Women who are dedicated to making a difference to the health, wellbeing, safety and/or sustainability of our community through advocacy, campaigning, fundraising and/or thought-leadership.
  • Excelling in Arts and Sport: Women using their sporting and/or creative talents to represent, motivate and inspire our community.
  • Inspiring Innovation: Women who are leaders in Business, Economics, Politics and/or an Entrepreneur.
  • Success in STEM: Women excelling in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

In addition to the Woman of the Year Award, Kingston also runs a range of other awards throughout the year including the Kingston Citizen of the Year and Community Group of the Year Awards presented on Australia Day, and the Kingston Youth Awards.
