Kingston Council’s $2.15 million upgrade to the Tom Johnston Pavilion at Chelsea Recreation Reserve has provided additional room and facilities for existing users and will encourage more people to get involved in community sport.

| The works have included a single story extension to the existing grandstand with home and away teams changing rooms, a kiosk facility, meeting rooms and two accessible public toilets. A ‘stair climber’ has also been installed to enable persons with a disability to access the first floor.
This upgrade will allow better utilisation of the facility for the 300-plus people who use the reserve on a regular basis, including the Chelsea Cricket Club, Chelsea Junior Football Club, Chelsea Football Club, Chelsea All Abilities All Access Auskick Centre.
