News>Beach Renourishment - Beach Closures
As part of Councils commitment to improve the foreshore, Kingston Council in partnership with the Department of Sustainability and Environment, will be undertaking beach renourishment works at Mentone beach and Aspendale Beach. As a result of the works, sections of the Kingston Foreshore will be closed to the public.

| Aspendale Beach Renourishment | | The works started on the 2nd July, 2012 and are expected to take up to 4 weeks to complete (weather permitting).
During this period, the foreshore from Hearle Avenue to Gnotuk Car Park, Aspendale will be closed Monday-Friday to the public. This section of beach will be reopened on the weekends. The northern section of Gnotuk Car Park will also be closed for the duration of the works. | |
| Mentone Beach Renourishment | | The Mentone Beach Renourishment will involve the relocation of sand from Mordialloc Foreshore to Mentone Foreshore. The works started on the 2nd July, 2012 and are expected to take up to 6 weeks to complete.
Trucks will be relocating the sand from Mordialloc to Mentone and will be travelling along the beach. For safety reasons, the beach from Mordialloc to Mentone will be closed Monday-Friday while works are undertaken. The beach will be reopened for the weekend. The beach promenade will remain open to the public.
