Don Tatnell Leisure Centre Receive Platinum Pool Award
Don Tatnell Leisure Centre has just been awarded the Life Saving Victoria (LSV) Platinum Pool award. The award recognises the outstanding provision of aquatic safety at public pools.
Owned and operated by the City of Kingston, the facility had to go through a rigorous series of assessments and reviews to ensure that it met LSV’s strict criteria. LSV’s Aquatic Risk and Research Manager, Andy Dennis, said the award is a way of recognising those facilities that have met the highest safety requirements in the aquatic industry. “The award is similar to accrediting a lifesaver, and therefore facilities must undergo a thorough assessment of their skills and performance and attain the highest of standards,” Mr Dennis said. “We are very selective with who receives Platinum accreditation, and the demonstration of exemplary levels of aquatic safety must be constantly maintained,” he said. Included in the auditing criteria is an industry leading Aquatic Facility Safety Assessment, a six monthly assessment on implementation of the safety improvement plan, an LSV Mystery Guest Visit and an LSV Work Health and Safety Audit. The accreditation is an important part of a facilities overall safety and continual improvement strategy.
