Protecting the character of our neighbourhoods while accommodating new growth is a key challenge facing local communities.
How do we keep what we love, while making positive change for the future?
In 2017 Council is undertaking several key projects and we want to hear from our community to help shape the future of planning in Kingston.
Council has long-campaigned to see required population growth centred around our key activity centres close to public transport, shops and services.
This would allow us to protect the neighbourhood character and amenity of our quieter residential streets.
We need Victorian Government support – through changes to the Planning Scheme and adoption of our Planning Zones – to make this happen.
Council hopes our argument to the Victorian Government will be strengthened by several key projects now underway:
Have your say
We’re seeking community input to make sure as many people in the community as possible have their say.
Over the coming months you will be invited to take part in a number of ways including:
- online surveys
- attending a ward meeting and take part in our community workshop
- neighbourhood walking tours
- making a written submission
- drop-in sessions
Some of the consultation sessions will be about specific projects – such as the Neighbourhood Character Study – while others will cover all three topics.
All the various consultation opportunities will be promoted via our online consultation page Your Kingston Your Say over the coming months.
You can also register to be kept informed of all consultation opportunities.
