News>Heatherton Park Playground and Park Refurbishment
Landscape Concept Plan Committed to improving play in Kingston
| | | |
| As part of Council’s Playground Renewal Programme and after working with the Friends of Heatherton Park and the local community, a landscape concept plan has been prepared illustrating proposed playground and park refurbishment work at Heatherton Park, Ireland Road in Clayton South.
Key elements of the design include:
The creation of a unique, new playground with equipment for all age groups
Construction of a new picnic area with barbecues, tables and shelter
The installation of new park lights
Improved paths and park furniture
New tree planting.
The existing playground and park facilities at the Ireland Road entrance are old and the playground has little play value. Council’s Playground Strategy suggests that the Ireland Road playground is the most suitable location for a playground at Heatherton Park. It is closer to local houses and it has existing infrastructure such as electricity, natural shade and paths.
Elements of Monster Park at the Heatherton Road entrance to the park will also be used to create a special play space at the Ireland Road entrance.
A Resident Bulletin and Landscape Concept Plan are attached below for your reference.
