| The festival will feature jazz and blues music across two stages, a non-stop swing stage, Latin dancing, gourmet food and wine, rides, children’s activities and more.
A talented array of musicians is set to be showcased at the festival at Peter Scullin Reserve on Saturday 17 March and Sunday 18 March 2012, including:
-
Ol' Skydaddys featuring Frankie J Holden and Wilbur Wilde
Frankie J Holden is one of Australia’s most dynamic, lead singing front men. Beginning his impressive career with legendary rock band Ol’55, Frank’s success story continued into feature films High Tide, The Odd Angry Shot and Return Home amongst them. Combine this great talent with long time friend and showbiz collaborator Wilbur Wilde and you have some serious, rocking fun. Wilbur is fondly remembered from his sixteen years on Hey Hey it’s Saturday and also seminal Australian bands Ol’55 and Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons.
-
Jimi Hocking’s Blues Machine
Jimi ’the human’ Hocking has been a familiar sight to Australian audiences for many years. Along with the gold records he collected with the infamous Screaming Jets, Jimi has also released a large body of solo work (13 albums), from electric rock and blues, to contemporary folk and even blues mandolin.
-
Sweethearts
Sweethearts play neo soul – a fusion of styles based around classic soul. For the past fifteen years they have been developing their unique soul fusion sound. They have redefined what is possible, being the only school based band in the world that plays exclusively in professional settings. The girls have received accolades over four tours of Europe and constant touring of Victoria and Australia.
-
Matt Katsis & Blakistons Owl
With a swag full of original songs, a solid rhythm section and a wealth of performance experience, Matt Katsis and his Band have been turning heads with their live show which features infectious grooves inspired from the likes of reggae, rock and the blues. A must see amongst our 2012 main stage line-up!
Other exceptional artists performing at the festival include Midnight Sun, Sarah Rzek, Dukesy and the Hazzards, The Pardoners, Dreamboogie and the Moonee Valley Drifters.
The festival will also feature a gourmet food trail, and a free Master Chef Marquee where a range of talented chefs and skilled professionals from Melbourne’s southeast and regional Mornington Peninsula will present a series of culinary skill demonstrations throughout the weekend. Culinary chef skills demonstrations will be complimented by an enhanced rolling program of progressive handcraft skills such as pasta making, vegetable carving, oyster shucking and ice carving.
The Lens Mist photographic exhibition will this year be housed inside landmark restaurant Windows on the Bay.
Another major highlight of the festival will be an inaugural innovative evening of seafood degustation and stunning Mornington Peninsula wines at the Master Chef Marquee at 6pm on Saturday 17 March. The five course dinner is $125 per person. Tickets are limited and bookings essential on 9580 2899.
