The community is invited to the official opening of Clarinda Library from 12noon on Friday 17 February 2012.

Council is proud to be officially opening Clarinda Library after a $620,000 refurbishment providing 112 sqm additional space, with a reworking of the multipurpose room to offer versatile and flexible community space, a newspaper reading area, more seated spaces, and a dedicated children’s area.

2012 is a big year for Kingston Libraries with the launch of the National Year of Reading also occurring next week.

Kingston is kicking off the National Year of Reading withan exciting live radio broadcast at Cheltenham Library from 9.00am-11.00am on Tuesday 14 February 2012.

The Love 2 Read Live Radio Broadcast by 88.3 Southern FM will feature live music, book and play readings, as well as door prizes.

Clarinda Library is one of eight libraries available to the community in Kingston, boasting a diverse catalogue of 200,000 books ranging from interest areas including children’s books to adult, crime, Australiana, non-fiction, and other media such as DVDs, CDs, games, newspapers and more.

Kingston’s other libraries are located in Chelsea, Cheltenham, Dingley, Highett, Moorabbin, Parkdale and Patterson Lakes.

Clarinda Library is at 58A Viney Street, Clarinda and is open from 10am-8pm Monday-Tuesday, 1-8pm Wednesdays, 10am-6pm Thursday-Friday, 10am-3pm Saturdays and 2pm-5pm Sunday.
