Thinking of starting your own business?

KingstonCouncil – in partnership with the Victorian Government – is running a comprehensive workshop to help people consider whether starting a small business is right for them.

The Starting Your Business workshop is on from 1.30-5pm, Wednesday 15 February 2012, at Kingston City Council, 1230 Nepean Highway, Cheltenham. The cost is $30 per person.

The workshop will be led by Barry Jenner, an experienced consultant with a reputation of being able to get things done. He specialises in profit improvement for small to large organisations.

Taking part in the workshop will help you:
  • understand the requirements for setting up a business;
  • understand the key success factors of all good businesses;
  • understand the importance of a good business plan;
  • get your own business and action plans started;
  • find out where to go for additional information and how to access the many resources available to you as a small business owner.
People who attend the workshop will receive an interactive workbook, a free session with an experienced business mentor and the opportunity to meet, network and interact with like-minded people from a variety of industries.

This workshop is suitable for those considering or in the initial stages of starting a business, as well as existing small business owners.

Kingston Council regularly runs small business workshops in partnership with the Victorian Government Department of Business and Innovation.

Another exciting workshop on the agenda in February is the Marketing Basics session on from 6-8pm, Wednesday 29 February 2012, at Kingston City Council, 1230 Nepean Highway, Cheltenham. The cost is $20 per person. This workshop will help people develop marketing plans and gain tips on cost-effective marketing strategies.
